Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today dedicate to the nation a 750 megawatt Solar project set up at Rewa in Madhya Pradesh. The Rewa project will reduce carbon emission equivalent to about 15 lakh ton of CO2 per year. Prime Minister Modi will dedicate the solar project to the nation virtually at 11 am.

Madhya Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will take part in the programme through video conference. Union Minister RK Singh will also take part in the programme.

The Rewa Project has also received World Bank Group President’s Award for innovation and excellence and was included in the Prime Minister’s “A Book of Innovation: New Beginnings”. 

The Project also exemplifies India’s commitment to attain the target of 175 gigawatt of installed renewable energy capacity by the year 2022, including 100 gigawatt of Solar installed capacity.

A radio report on the event, produced by AIR Rewa, will be broadcast by AIR Delhi on its Indraprastha, FM Gold and AIR Live News 24x7 Youtube channels at 5:20 PM today.

"The project comprises three solar generating units of 250 MW each located on a 1590-hectare plot inside a solar park. According to the official release, the project will reduce carbon emission equivalent to approximately 15 lakh tonne of CO2 per year. It is the first renewable energy project to supply to institutional customers outside the state, including Delhi Metro, which will get 24 per cent of energy from the project. The remaining 76 per cent is being supplied to the state distribution companies of Madhya Pradesh. The Rewa project has been acknowledged in India and abroad for its robust structuring and innovations. Its payment security mechanism for reducing risks to power developers has been recommended as a model to other states by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. The solar park was developed by the Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Ltd, a joint venture of Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd and Solar Energy Corporation of India. Sanjeev Sharma, AIR News, Bhopal".


Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India is performing, reforming, transforming and offering new economic opportunities. He said, this is an India which is adopting a human centric and inclusive approach for the development. In his inaugural address yesterday at the India Global Week 2020, Mr. Modi said, India is playing a leading role in the global revival and the country is ready to do whatever it can to further global good and prosperity.

On the Covid-19 pandemic, Mr. Modi said, India is fighting a strong battle against the global pandemic with an increased focus on people's health and the country is equally focused on the health of the economy.

The Prime Minister said, Atma Nirbhar Bharat is not about being self-contained or being closed to the world, but it is about being self-sustaining and self-generating.


The disengagement process between India and China has been in progress from the face-off site at Patrolling Point 17 of the Hot Springs area. Army sources said, the Chinese People's Liberation Army troops moved back in the Hot Springs Area. The disengagement process is going on at all friction points.

Chinese People's Liberation Army troops were also thinning out in Finger area in Ladakh. The disengagement process began on 6th of this month after National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi agreed that expeditious withdrawal of troops from all the standoff points at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) is necessary for maintaining peace and tranquillity.


External Affairs Ministry has said, the diplomatic and military officials of India and China will continue their meetings to take forward the process of disengagement and de-escalation. In reply to a media query, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said the next meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China border affairs is expected to take place soon.

The Special Representatives of India and China on the Boundary Question - National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi had a telephonic conversation on 5th July. The spokesperson said, the two Special Representatives had a frank and in-depth exchange of views on the recent developments in the Western Sector of the India-China border areas.

During the conversation, the NSA conveyed categorically India’s position on the recent developments along the Line of Actual Control, including in the Galwan valley area. Mr Doval emphasised in this context that the Indian troops had always taken a very responsible approach towards border management and at the same time, were deeply committed to ensuring India’s sovereignty and security.


India has expressed concern over the possibility that F-1 visa students attending online-only classes in the US may lead to the return of large number of Indian students studying there. In reply to a media query, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said India has conveyed the concern to the US side. He said, the matter was raised by Foreign Secretary with his counterpart during  Foreign Office Consultations. He said, India has urged the US that there is a need to keep in mind the role that educational exchanges and people to people relations have played in development of Indo-US relations. He said, the US has noted the concerns. Replying to a query on opening of Kartarpur Corridor, Mr Srivastava said there is an agreement on Kartarpur Sahib and India and Pakistan are currently consulting various stakeholders in this regard.


The 15th meeting of the India-European Union Summit will be held in virtual mode on 15th July. The Summit will be co-chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President of European Council Charles Michel and President of European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. Briefing media virtually last evening, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said the Summit will review India-EU cooperation covering political and security relations, trade and investment and economic cooperation. He said, the Summit is also expected to discuss developments around the Covid-19 pandemic and contemporary global matters of interest to both sides. The 14th India-EU Summit was held on 6 October 2017 in New Delhi.


Civil Aviation Ministry has said, India and the UAE have allowed their airlines to carry people authorised to travel between the two countries. According to the arrangement, charter flights operated by UAE carriers to bring Indian citizens from UAE will be allowed to carry ICA approved UAE residents on their return leg. Indian carriers operating repatriation flights to bring Indian citizens from UAE to India will be allowed to carry the ICA approved UAE residents on the outward journey from India to UAE. On the India to UAE journey, these flights will carry only those passengers who are destined for the UAE.


ICSE and ISC exam results for students of Class 10th and 12th will be announced at 3 pm today. The results will be uploaded on the website of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination. Students will be able to view their result by logging on to cisce.org and results.cisce.org. Results will also be available through SMS for which detail has been posted on the websites. A press release said, affiliated schools can access results by logging into the CAREERS portal using Principal's login ID and password.


Government has rejected a note circulating in media which claims that CBSE has released result dates for board examinations and also lists three websites to view the results. In a tweet, Press Information Bureau has termed it as fake. It clarified that  CBSE has not announced any date. The PIB said, such dates will be announced on CBSE official website or social media account.


Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) is planning to conduct a nationwide sero-surveillance in near future to evaluate the trend of COVID-19 infection among the population. It will be a follow-up to a similar study conducted earlier. Briefing media in New Delhi yesterday, Health Ministry official said the final results of the sero-survey conducted by the ICMR in May, which focused on infections of mid-April is still under process. The Health Ministry said that India is effectively dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic and the country has the lowest caseloads and deaths in terms of its population in comparison to other nations. It said, there is no community transmission in the country.


The Delhi Government has decided that Rapid Antigen Detection Test will be offered by all its dispensaries and polyclinics. The test will be conducted from 9 AM to 12 Noon on all working days. The step has been taken to augment the Covid-19 testing and ensure its accessibility. Delhi's Directorate General of Health Services said that dispensaries have been allowed to undertake Rapid Antigen Testing of the individuals with influenza-like illness (ILI) symptoms and also of asymptomatic direct and high risk contacts. Rapid antigen testing will be undertaken in combination with RT-PCR test as per the guidelines of Indian Council of Medical Research.


The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to impose fresh restrictions for three in the state from this evening amid spurt in Covid-19 cases. The restrictions will be in place from 10 PM today till 5 AM on 13th July.

"As per the directions issued by chief secretary of state RK Tiwari, All offices, business institutions and markets in Urban and rural areas across the state will be closed during the restriction period. Although All emergency services will continue as usual. Apart from the continuous working units in urban areas and industrial units in rural areas all other industrial activities will be closed. These restrictions will not affect rail and air services along with movement on national highways and road transportation including goods services. On these three days that is 10,11 and 12 July a massive sanitization and clean water supply campaign will be launched across the state. Through public address system an awareness campaign will also be launched regarding covid-19 and other communicable diseases. SUSHIL CHANDRA TIWARI, AIR NEWS, LUCKNOW".


A complete lockdown has been imposed in ten districts of Bihar including capital Patna beginning today due to an alarming spike in Covid-19 cases. Three day lockdown has been imposed in four districts of Buxar,Nawada Supaul and Kishanganj. In Khagaria, lockdown has been placed for five days till 14th of this month. In Patna, Munger, Madhepura, Kaimur and Purnea districts lockdown will continue till 16th of this month. The State government has also ordered a complete lockdown in districts of Begusarai, Nalanda and Vaishali for six days starting tomorrow.

"During lockdown, Government offices, Public coroporations. All private and commercial establishments will also remain closed. However, Ration shops, dairy, Vegetables and meat shops will be open between 6 am and 10 am and from 4 pm to 7 pm. All places of worship and religious gatherings will also be closed. All kinds of e-commerce and home delivery will be allowed. Public transport service will be allowed and private vehicles will be limited to essential works only. Train and flight services have been allowed. Wearing of mask has been made mandatory for everyone. 14 days home quarantine has been made necessary for all rail passengers. In West Bengal, fresh lockdown has been imposed for seven days in containment zones of the State. The restrictions were imposed last afternoon following the rapid increase in COVID-19 cases in the State.

"West Bengal recorded highest number of 1088 COVID cases in last 24 hours. With this total number of infected patients have reached to nearly 26 thousand. 27 persons died in a single day so far taking the total number of death toll to 854. Strict Police vigil has been kept at Containment Zones in the State. Microphones are being used by the Police, requesting people for strict compliance of Lockdown and mandatory use of Masks. A five-member Central team delegated to study the COVID-19 pandemic situation in Tamil Nadu is scheduled to meet Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy today. The team is being led by Union Health Ministry Additional Secretary Aarti Ahuja. It made an on-the-spot study of several Covid-19 containment efforts in Chennai yesterday. Meanwhile, the total tally of Covid-19 cases in Tamil Nadu has crossed one lakh 26 thousand after 4231 people were tested positive for the disease yesterday.

"The members of the Central Team met the Tamil Nadu Health Minister Dr C Vijayabhaskar and senior officials in Chennai yesterday. They were briefed about the methodologies being followed in the clinical management of Covid-19 in the state and the preventive measures being undertaken. Later the team members visited the Government Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital in the state capital and inspected the fever camps being held in various parts of the city. They wind up their visit today with their meeting with the Chief Minister. Jayasingh, AIR News, Chennai".


Karnataka reported 2,228 new Covid-19 cases during the last 24 hours, taking the overall tally in the state to 31,105. 957 individuals were discharged from the hospital during the last 24 hours after getting recovered. With this, the total number of people cured so far in the state stands at 12,833. 17 patients succumbed to the disease yesterday, taking the death toll in the state due to COVID-19 to 486. 

"Among the new cases, 1373 were reported from Bengaluru, As many as 457 patients are currently in Intensive Care Units. Karnataka Chief Minister B.S.Yediyurappa visited the covid care centre set up at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre. This centre is converted in to covid care center and 10,100 beds are housed there. A total of 2,200 staffs will be deputed for this covid care centre. The patients will be provided with quality food, recreation facilities such as TV, carrom boards, chess boards, etc. Twenty ambulances will be stationed here for any emergency. This  Centre will take care of people who are asymptomatic and persons who are mildly-infected. R.MURTHY, AIR NEWS, BENGALURU".


In Gujarat, 861 new COVID-19 cases have been reported during the last 24 hours, taking the overall tally to 39,280. Quoting sources, Our Ahmedabad correspondent reports that 19 patients have lost their lives taking the total death toll in the state due to Covid-19 to 2010.

"861 new cases during the last 24 hours was the single biggest spike in the state till now. According to official sources, out of 9528 active cases in the state, conditions of 72 patients are critical and they are on ventilator. 429 patients have been discharged from the various hospitals after recovery during the last 24 hours. With this, the total patients recovered from the Covid-19 have gone up to 27,742. More than 4 lakh 41 thousand tests have been carried out till date. Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has added eight new areas in micro containment zones. Door to door surveillance and testing drives will begin in these areas from today. In the wake of rising number of Covid-19 patients in Mumbai, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray appealed to the people not to panic as the municipality has enough stock of essential medicines required for the treatment coronavirus infected patients. The Chief Minister was addressing a meeting through video conferencing with the officials of the Indian Administrative Service appointed to monitor the functioning of Mumbai Municipal Corporation as well as private hospitals in the city.

"Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said that the government has taken possession of 80 per cent beds in private hospitals in Mumbai for the treatment of COVID -19 patients. He said that such hospitals should display a list at the entrance with details of how many patients are currently undergoing treatment and how many beds are vacant in the hospital. He assured that the government has created jumbo facilities for Covid patients. Officials need to build trust among the citizens. The doubling rate of COVID-19 cases in Mumbai has now improved to 47 days and the current growth rate of the pandemic is at 1.49 per cent. Madhuri Pange, AIR News, Mumbai".


The coronavirus infection continued to rage through Jharkhand, with the state registering 171 new cases in the last 24 hours, taking the overall tally to 3,358. The recovery rate in the state stands at 65 per cent.

"Chief Minister Hemant Soren has requested railways to cancel two special trains Ranchi-Patna Intercity express and TATA- Danapur express coming from Bihar to Ranchi and Jamshedpur respectively, to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection coming from the neighbouring states. Railways have accepted the request and trains have been cancelled with effect from July 13. With more than 550 new Corona positive cases detected this week, the bordering districts with neighbouring states of Bihar and West Bengal have been ed by the state government. Special instruction to DCs for manning the borders with neighbouring states have been issued, while entry in the state without an e-pass has been completely restricted. Six districts with maximum spread of infection have enforced article 144 and night curfew timings have been changed from evening 9 pm to morning 6 am. Shilpi, AIR News Ranchi".

Union Home Ministry has permitted National Investigation Agency to investigate the Thiruvananthapuram Airport Gold smuggling case. The Ministry said, the decision has been taken as the organised smuggling operation may have serious implications for national security. It came a day after Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking an effective investigation into the seizure of gold worth crores of rupees from a diplomatic baggage at the airport in the state capital. The gold, weighing over 30 kg, was seized from the diplomatic baggage that had landed by air cargo at the Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram International airport recently from the Gulf.


News just in, Gangster Vikas Dubey was killed in an encounter this morning after he tried to flee when the police vehicle carrying him met an accident near Bhauti area close to Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh. Vikas was the main accused in the killing of eight policemen in Kanpur. A team of Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force was bringing him back from Ujjain where he was arrested by Madhya Pradesh Police yesterday. Kanpur SSP Dinesh said that Vikas tried to escape after the vehicle carrying him turned turtle in an accident due to heavy rain.


In Jammu and Kashmir, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar has said that the attack on BJP leader Waseem Bari in Bandipora was pre-planned by terror group Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT). In the terrorist attack, Sheikh Wasim Bari, his father Bashir Ahmed and brother Umar Bashir were killed on Wednesday. Three more policemen were arrested in connection with the attack, taking the total number of the police personnel arrested in the case to 10.


The Asia Cup Cricket tournament, which was scheduled to be held in September this year, has been postponed till June next year by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) owing to an upsurge in COVID-19 cases in the region. The Asian Cricket Council tweeted that after careful consideration and evaluating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Executive Board of the ACC decided to postpone the Asia Cup tournament. Pakistan was to originally host the Asia Cup this time but due to security reasons, the tournament was later rescheduled to be held in Sri Lanka.

Delhi may witness strong surface winds during the day time. The minimum temperature in the National Capital was recorded at 28 degrees Celsius while the maximum is expected to be around 39 degrees.

Mumbai will see generally cloudy sky with moderate rain. The city witnessed a minimum temperature of 24 degrees Celsius and will have a maximum of around 31 degrees.

In Chennai, the temperature will hover between 27 and 35 degrees Celsius. The city will have a generally cloudy sky with light rain or drizzle.

Kolkata will have partly cloudy sky with possibility of moderate rain or thunderstorm. The minimum temperature in the city was recorded at 28 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature will be nearly 35 degrees.

In Jammu and Kashmir, the minimum temperature was 26 degrees Celsius in Jammu while maximum will be around 36 degrees. The city is likely to have partly cloudy sky with possibility of rain or thunderstorm or dust-storm.

In Srinagar, the temperature will hover between 18 and 32 degrees Celsius. The city is expected to witness partly cloudy sky becoming generally cloudy towards afternoon or evening or night.

In Gilgit, the minimum temperature was recorded at 20 degrees Celsius while the maximum will be around 36 degrees and the sky will be partly cloudy with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers.

Muzzafarabad may see partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers. The place witnessed a minimum temperature of 22 degrees Celsius while maximum temperature will be around 37 degrees.

Chandigarh will see a generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers. The minimum temperature was recorded at 27 degrees Celsius and maximum temperature will be around 33 degrees.
