On the first anniversary of Balakot airstrikes today, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh saluted the Indian Air Force for its unmatched bravery and courage exhibited during the air strikes. In a tweet, Mr Singh said, it was a successful counter terror operation launched by the fearless air warriors of the Indian Air Force. He said, with the success of Balakot air strikes, India has clearly demonstrated its strong will against terrorism. The Minister said, the Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has adopted a different approach from earlier governments and now it does not hesitate to cross the border to protect India against terrorism.

He thanked Mr Modi for bringing change in India’s approach against terrorism and the ways to counter terror. Mr Singh said, the Surgical Strikes of 2016 and the Balakot Air Strikes of 2019 are testimony to this change. He said, it is certainly a New and Confident India in making.

Last year, during early hours of 26 February, air strikes were conducted on terrorist training facilities in Balakot of Pakistan’s Khyber Paktunkhwa province. In this operation, a very large number of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM ) terrorists and trainers were eliminated.

Addressing a public rally at Churu in Rajasthan on the same day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had reassured that the country is in safe hands.

"चुरू की धरती से मैं देशवासियों को विश्वास दिलाता  हूं कि देश सुरक्षित हाथों में है। सौगंध मुझे इस मिट्टी की मैं देश नहीं मिटने दूंगा। मैं देश नहीं रुकने दूंगा। मैं देश नहीं झूकने दूंगा।"


The Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal R K S Bhadauria met Balakot brave hearts in Srinagar today on the occasion of first anniversary of the Balakot air strikes.

The Air Chief Marshal said that  51 Squadron and Abhinandan demonstrated the spirit of Air Force. They had no hesitation in engaging vastly superior aircraft in terms of technology and weapons and they did the right thing. Air Force is proud of them. He said that the message is clear if there is an attack orchestrated from across the border there will be a response and it will be a robust one.


AIR News Jammu talked to Major General (Retd.) R.S. Jamwal, AVSM on Balakote Strike carried by the Indian Air Force. He said,

United States National Security Adviser Robert O'Brien has thanked the people of India who came out in support of President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania during their visit to the country, saying they have friends in America and the White House.

The President was accompanied by a high-powered delegation comprising senior officials including NSA O'Brien during his maiden official visit to India on 24th and 25th of February.  

The US NSA, on his way back to the US, tweeted and thanked the people of India for their support. The White House in a tweet has also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the people of India for their incredible hospitality. Major American newspapers have prominently reported about the visit.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump have vowed to strengthen the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership which is anchored on mutual trust, shared interests, and goodwill. A Joint Statement last evening said, both leaders have pledged to deepen defence and security cooperation, especially through greater maritime and space domain awareness and information sharing. India and the United States yesterday finalized defence deals worth three billion dollars and signed three agreements, including in health and oil sectors.

President Trump welcomed India’s recent decision to procure MH-60R naval and AH-64E Apache helicopters. As India works to acquire new defence capabilities, President Trump reaffirmed India’s status as a Major Defense Partner affording it the highest consideration for procurement and technology transfer purposes. The leaders looked forward to early conclusion of defence cooperation enabling agreements including Basic Exchange and Cooperation Agreement.


Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik has said that normalcy has returned in violence hit North East Delhi to a large extent. He told reporters that senior officers are on rounds and  extra forces have been deployed to bring normalcy. He said a lot of confidence building measures are being taken and the situation is under control. 

Delhi Police  Official  said, the death toll in the violence has gone up to 17. Security personnel today held flag march in Babarpur, Johripur and Maujpur. Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) S N Shrivastava and Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) Satish Golcha today inspected the Jafrabad area.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi today reviewed situation prevailing in various parts of Delhi. In a series of tweets, Mr Modi said, police and other agencies are working on the ground to ensure peace and normalcy. He said, Peace and harmony are central to country's ethos and appealed to everyone to maintain peace and brotherhood at all times. Prime Minister said, it is important that there is calm and normalcy is restored at the earliest.


Congress President Sonia Gandhi has blamed Centre, Home Minister and Delhi Government for the violence in North East Delhi. She was talking to reporters after Congress Working Committee meeting in New Delhi. She appealed to the people to maintain calm and peace.

"कांग्रेस कार्य समिति सब परिवारों के साथ अपनी गहरी संवेदना व्यक् करती है। पूरी स्थिति को देखते हुए कांग्रेस कार्य समिति का मानना है कि दिल्ली में मौजूदा स्थिति के लिए केन्द्र सरकार जिम्मेदार है।" 

Talking to AIR News, BJP Spokesman G V L Narasimha Rao alleged that Congress is playing petty politics over the situation.

"आज सोनिया गांधी जब दिल्ली में स्थिति सामान् हो रही है, ऐसे समय राजनीतिक रोटियां सेकने के लिए सोनिया गांधी और कांग्रेस पार्टी जिस प्रकार के दखल दे रहे हैं, उसका हम निंदा करते हैं"


In Rajasthan, 24 people lost their lives and five others injured when a private bus fell into a river on Kota-Dausa highway in Bundi district today. Our correspondent reports that the passengers travelling in the bus were going from Kota to Sawai Madhopur to attend a marriage ceremony.

The accident took place when the driver lost balance of the bus while traveling a bridge on Mej River near Papdi village under Lakheri police station. Subsequently, the bus plunged into the river from the bridge. The injured were rushed to Lekhari government hospital from where the critically injured have been referred to government hospital in Kota. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Chief Minister Ashok Gahlot have expressed condolences to the bereaved families. Jitendra Dwivedi, AIR News, Jaipur ."

BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda has described Vinayak Damodar Savarkar as a great freedom fighter, thinker, powerful orator and visionary. In a video message at the two-day Savarkar Sahitya Sammelan in New Delhi today, Mr Nadda said, Veer Savarkar sacrificed everything for the nation and inspired people.


India is sending a transport aircraft to the Novel coronavirus-hit Wuhan today to deliver medical supplies and relief material. On the return,  the Indian aircraft will bring back 120 people from Wuhan tomorrow. These include 80 Indian nationals and 40 people from neighboring countries.

Earlier, the transport aircraft was scheduled to fly on February 20, but was waiting for clearance from Chinese side. Items being supplied are gloves, surgical masks, feeding and infusion pumps and defibrilators based on the requirements as indicated by the Chinese side.


The United Arab Emirates' General Civil Aviation Authority  (GCAA) has announced the suspension of all flights arriving to and departing from Iran, as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of the Novel Corona virus.

According to the GCAA, all passenger and cargo aircrafts traveling to and from Iran will be suspended for a period of one week and could be up for extension.

A statement issued by the Dubai Airport said, all passengers arriving on direct flights from Tehran will receive thermal screening at the airport by the Dubai Health Authority and its Airport Medical Centre team.

Iranian Minister Iraj Harirchi posted a video on social media yesterday acknowledging he has caught the virus. Another prominent politician, Mahmoud Sadeghi, also posted on Twitter that he has also contracted the virus. Tehran has reported a total of 95 cases and 15 deaths so far, most of them in the northern city of Qom.
