A Historic tripartite agreement has been signed between Centre, Assam government  and nine factions of National Democratic Front of Bodoland in New Delhi today. The agreement was signed in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. The agreement provides for some political rights and economic uplifment measures for the Bodo tribals living in Assam Speaking on the occassion Home Minister Amit Shah said it is a historic moment.

The, President of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha Taren Bodo has Expressed happiness over the accord. Former Rajya Sabha MP and writer U G Brahma/


Senior BJP leader and Union Minister  Ravi Shankar Prasad today alleged that Delhi's Shaheen Bagh protest is emerging as a textbook case of a few hundred people trying to suppress the silent majority. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, Mr Prasad said that those trying to fragment India are getting cover at the Shaheen Bagh protest where tricolours are being waived. He said the protest is offering platform to tukde tukde gang elements under the garb of opposition to the Citizenship (Amendment) Act CAA. Mr Prasad said, this is not just a protest against CAA it is a protest against Prime minister Narendra Modi.

"शाहीन बाग एक विचार है जहां भारत के झंडे और भारत के संविधान तक कवर है और भारत को तोड़ने वालों को मंच दिया जाता है। जहां पर टुकड़े-टुकड़े गैंग पीछे खड़े रहते हैं। जहां पर मासूम बच्चों की मासूमियत को छलावा देते हुए उनसे प्रधानमंत्री के खिलाफ हिंसा के लिए उकसाया जाता है।"

Mr Prasad said, lakhs of people are distressed because they can not go to office, shops are shut and their children are not able to go to school due to road block by Shaheen Bagh protesters.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi has that said in just three years, through Khelo India Games, thirty-two hundred gifted children have emerged on the sporting horizon. In his monthly Mann Ki Baat programme on All India Radio, Mr Modi congratulated Assam Government and the people of the state for successfully hosting the 3rd edition of Khelo India Games. The Prime Minister lauded how the parents of some of the participants did not allow poverty to become a hurdle for the future of their children. Mr Modi said, six thousand sportspersons from different states participated in the games. 80 records were broken at the mega sporting event out of which 56 records were registered in the names of girls. He said the Government has now decided to organize the Khelo India University Games and the first edition of Games will be held in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar in Odisha from the 22nd of next month.

"2018 में जब खेलों इंडिया गैम की शुरूआत हुई थी। तब इसमें 3500 खिलाडि़यों ने हिस्सा लिया था। लेकिन महज तीन वर्षों में खिलाडि़यों की संख्या 6 हजार से अधिक हो गई हैं। यानी करीब-करीब दो गुनी इतना ही नहीं सिर्फ तीन वर्षों में  खेलों इंडिया गेम् के माध्यम से 3200 प्रतिभाशाली बच्चे उभरकर सामने आए हैं।"  

Mr Modi also said that the proposed Gaganyaan mission will be a historic achievement for India in 21st Century.  He said, as India celebrates its 75th year of Independence in 2022, the country has to fulfill the pledge to take an Indian into space through the Gaganyaan mission. The Prime Minister also said, that insurgency in the North-East has come down and efforts are being made to resolve the issues of the region in right earnest and peacefully through dialogue. He further said, the new decade of 2020, has brought a new ray of hope in the life of the Bru-Reang community. He was referring to the agreement which has ended the 25 year old problem of the Bru-Reang refugee crisis. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that after interaction with students in Pariksha Pe Charcha, the youth is brimming with self-confidence and is ready to take on all challenges.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the 3rd Global Potato Conclave at Gandhinagar, Gujarat tomorrow through video conferencing. Mr Modi is expected to take an overall view of the achievements and opportunities in the area of potato research, trade and industry and value chain management and to set a road map for the decade. The conclave is the third in the series. The three day Conclave will provide an opportunity to bring all stakeholders at one common platform so that all issues are discussed and future plans  made involving everyone related to the potato sector.


In the 2012 Nirbhaya gang-rape and murder case, death row convict, Mukesh Kumar Singh today moved the Supreme Court seeking urgent hearing on his plea against dismissal of his mercy petition by the President. The mercy plea of Singh was dismissed by President Ram Nath Kovind on January 17. A bench headed by Chief Justice of India S A Bobde and comprising Justice B R Gavai and Justice Surya Kant said execution case will be given top priority. The warrant for execution of the death sentence for the four convicts in the case has been fixed for February 1 at 6 am.


In another decision, the Supreme Court today sought the response of the Centre and the Assam government on a plea alleging exclusion of around 2000 transgenders in the final National Register of Citizens, NRC in Assam. A bench comprising Chief Justice S A Bobde and Justices B R Gavai and Surya Kant issued notice to the governments on the PIL filed by one Swati Bidhan Baruah.


Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has said that Air India along with Air India Express is a great asset and the successful bidder will continue to use Air India brand. Briefing media in New Delhi Mr Puri said,  Air India is under a debt trap and the private sector can bring required capital to the Airline.  The Government today announced sale of 100 per cent stake in debt-laden Air India as it issued the preliminary bid document for the strategic disinvestment and has set March 17, as the deadline for submitting expression of interest.


Ahead of the Budget session of Parliament, Government has convened an all party meetings on Thursday to ensure smooth transaction of business in the both Houses of Parliament.  The first phase of the Budget session of Parliament will start from Friday and will continue till 11th of next month. After a recess of nearly one month, the session will resume from 2nd of March and will go on till 3rd of April.


The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet today passed a resolution setting in motion the process for abolishing the state Legislative Council. A similar resolution will now be adopted in the Legislative Assembly and sent to the Centre for necessary follow-up action. With just nine members, the ruling YSR Congress is in minority in the 58-member Legislative Council. The opposition Telugu Desam Party has an upper hand with 28 members and a ruling party could get a majority in the House only in 2021.

The move by the Andhra Pradesh cabinet came after the Jaganmohan Reddy government last week failed to pass in the Upper House of the state legislature two crucial Bills related to its plan of having three capitals for the state.


The five day Ganga Yatra with an aim to create awareness about the holy river started today in Uttar Pradesh. Flagging off the Yatra in Ballia State Governor Anandiben Patel said that those who are living close to this holy river are fortunate people. She said that Prime Minister Narendra modi is taking steps to clean the rivers of country. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath along with Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat and Union Minister Sanjeev Baliyan flagged off the yatra from Bijnor, a place where Ganga enters Uttar Pradesh. Governor, Anandiben Patel along with Union Minister Mahendra Nath Pandey and Deputy CM of Bihar Sushil Modi started another part of yatra from Ballia in eastern UP, where the holy river exits the state and enters Bihar. AIR correspondent reports that the 5 day long yatra under Namami Gange mission started amidst chanting of mantras and performance of ganga aarti from Bijnor and Ballia. The two yatras will cover more than 1350 kilometer route in 27 districts bother from road and water routes.


More than three thousand one hundred crore rupees digital payment transaction have taken place in the current financial year so far. The Finance Ministry said, numerous measures have been proposed in budget 2019-20 to promote digital payments further. Our correspondent reports that nearly 11 lakh BHIM Aadhar Pay point sale devices are in India.

"Government has taken several initiatives in the recent past for promotion of digital payment and less cash economy. Over the past three years, digital payment transactions have registered tremendous growth in India. Presently there are more than 52 lakh physical or mobile point of sale (PoS) devices in the country. The number of monthly BHIM - UPI transactions have increased from over 75 crores in June last year to over 130 crores till December last year. Digital transaction has brought transparency, significantly reduced corruption and improved public service delivery to benefit the poor. With Dipendra Kumar, Anupam Mishra, AIR News Delhi."


WHO chief Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus is reaching Beijing today to take stock of the situation and to  support the efforts done by Chinese govt for the coronavirus response. He said (in a tweet) that the WHO has activated global networks of experts and is tryign to activate the response system in various affected coutnries.Meanwhile, a suspected case of Coronavirus has been reported in Bihar's Chapra. A girl from Chapra, who had recently returned from China, was admitted to ICU at a hospital in Chapra after she showed symptoms similar to those of the coronavirus. Civil Surgeon Chapra, Madhweshwar Mishra said, she was kept in the isolation ward of Sadar hospital but was sent to Patna after her condition deteriorated. In India, a 24x7 National Centre for Disease Control Call Centre - 011 -23978046 has been made operational.


India's Saurav Ghosal made his way into the final of the Pittsburgh Open Squash tournament with a hard-fought win over Egypt's Omar Mossad in Pittsburgh, in the United States. He defeated the fifth seed Eyptian in a thrilling one hour 13 minute contest. Ghosal will now take on top seed Egyptian Fares Dessouky in the summit clash.
