Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said over 40 lakh residents in the national capital have seen a new ray of hope following the regularization of the unauthorized colonies. Addressing the Dhanyawad rally in New Delhi, Mr Modi said  there was an uncertainty among the large numbers of people in Delhi in this regard which has been done away. He accused opposition parties only giving lip service on the issue of regularisation of unauthorised colonies . He said a Bill in this regard was adopted by both the Houses of Parliament and within a short span of time, centre has taken concrete steps.


Earlier, senior BJP leader and Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar has accused the opposition-ruled states of not implementing the Central scheme of Ayushman Bharat providing health facilities to the people. Without naming the opposition parties in Delhi and West Bengal, Mr Javadekar said the BJP government has taken several developmental projects including expansion of metro rail.

In Meghalaya, the Curfew was lifted in the state capital Shillong this morning as no report of violence or arson over the amended citizenship Act was reported from any part of the city. People were seen flocking to local shops to buy essential items and Christmas goodies and gifts. Streets in the state capital were being decked out in Christmas lights and festoons since morning. The Curfew was imposed on areas under Sadar and Lumdiengjri police stations in the city since 12th of this month as anti-citizenship law protests turned violent.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has said, Citizenship Amendment Act is not against Muslims and Minorities. He was addressing a public meeting at Sanvidhan Square in Nagpur today, held after culmination of a march taken in support of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) by several  organizations including the BJP. Mr. Gadkari said, no injustice is being made to minorities because of this act.


"जो Religion Minority बांग्‍लादेश में हिंदुओं की है और वहां बांग्‍लादेश से हिन्‍दु निर्वासित करके आए हैं उन सबको हमने नागरिकत्‍व देने का, नागरिकता देने का निर्णय किया है कौन सा गलत निर्णय दिया है ? कोई हिन्‍दुस्‍तान के मुसलमानों पर अन्‍याय करने वाला ये कोई निर्णय नहीं है। हम कोई Minority के खिलाफ नहीं है।"

He alleged that opposition parties have been creating false propaganda by instilling fear among minority sections for getting benefits in Vote Bank politics.

AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi has appealed people to ensure peace during anti-CAA demonstrations. Addressing a meeting held at his party headquarters in Hyderabad, he said, Indian Muslims have rejected the erstwhile two-nation theory of Mohammed Ali Jinnah. He said, they are not against giving citizenship to people of other countries but religion should not be the basis for the same.

In Uttar Pradesh, situation is normal in all districts of the state and there in no news of any untoward incident. Internet services resumed in many districts including Varanasi, Chandauli and Aligarh after 48 hours while there are still restrictions in few cities. DGP of the state OP Singh has appealed to all citizens of the state to maintain peace. Police and administrative officials are reaching to the influential persons of the society to clear rumours about the act and urging them to communicate the message to society. DM and SSP of Lucknow today went to Eidgah to meet Muslim clerics and urged them to appeal for peace. Meanwhile, police have started the procedure to attach the property of those who were involved in rioting in various districts during protests against Citizenship Amendment Act.

Human Resource Development Ministry has clarified that Government has not asked IITs, IIMs, and Universities to track students' social media posts amid Citizenship Amendment Act protests. In a series of tweets, HRD Ministry said, no such instructions have been issued to IITs, IIMs or any other institution by the Ministry. The clarification came following news stories published in some news media that government has asked these educational institutions to track students' social media posts. The Ministry said the news items have been published without the verification of facts and are incorrect.

All arrangements are in place for tomorrow's counting for 81 Assembly seats in Jharkhand. Chief Electoral Officer Vinay Kumar Choubey told AIR that counting will begin at 8 in the morning and first trend will be available after the 1st hour of the counting. Polling for the 81-member State Assembly took place in five phases between 30th of November and 20th of December. According to the Election Commission, the approximate voter Turnout for all 81 seats across all phases of Jharkhand is around 65 percent.The BJP is hoping to retain power in the state. In 2014, the BJP had won 37 seats, while its ally AJSU secured a win in five Assembly seats. However, the Opposition Grand Alliance led by Hemant Soren's Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) which includes Congress and RJD, is hoping to unseat the BJP.  More from our Correspondent:-


"Three tier security arrangements have been made for all counting centres. Counting centres have been set up in all the 24 district headquarters of the state. Postal ballots will be counted first followed by votes of  EVMs. Micro observers will be deployed for each counting centre. Agents of different political parties will also be there during counting. Final result  will be declared after the counting of slips of five VVPATs which will be randomly selected for each assembly constituency. In Jammu & Kashmir, the 40-day period of extreme cold, known as ‘Chilai-Kalan’, began yesterday whileas the region is continuously reeling under intense cold wave and chill for the past over ten days now. The minimum temperatures throughout the valley continues to remain several notches below the freezing point. Meteorological Department Srinagar in a weeklong forecast this morning predicted dry weather till next Saturday. The department predicted dry weather over Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh regions.



"Traffic Officials said the debris clearance operation is in progress at a quick pace at Digdole in Ramban area along Srinagar Jammu highway. At least 1500 passenger vehicles and loaded trucks still remain stranded on Digdole-Ramban road stretch since last two days. The Srinagar-Leh highway and Mughal Road also remain closed for vehicular traffic. Meanwhile, Director Airport Srinagar Santosh Dhokey told AIR that the flight operations at Srinagar Airport are underway as per normal schedule. Tariq Rather, AIR News, Srinagar."

Moving now on to our Special Segment, Year Ender-2019. The Heavy Industries Ministry has to its credit several achievements in the year 2019 boosting the country's economy. India is the largest manufacturer of 2 Wheelers and 3 Wheelers and the 4th largest manufacturers of passenger cars in the world. As a part of the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan 2020, the government approved the scheme Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric and Hybrid Vehicles, FAME India, in March 2015  to reduce dependency on fossil fuel and to address the issues of vehicular emissions. Under this scheme, Departtment  of  Heavy Industry has sanctioned 425 electric and hybrid buses to various cities in the country with total cost of about 300 Crores. More form our Correspondent:-


"The year witnessed sanctioning of nearly 6 thousand e-buses to 64 cities for intra-city and inter-city operations across 26 states and union territories under the FAME India scheme to  promote electric mobility in public transport. Embracing electric mobility on large scale is imperative to tackle the various crisis arising due to pollution and giving the citizens of India a better quality of life. Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited took several initiatives of commissioning India's first Lithium-ion based Space Grade Cell manufacturing facility at Bengaluru utilizing the technology developed by Indian Space Research Organisation. It also commissioned manufacturing facilities for gates and dampers to meet emission norms for coal-based power plants.T otal turnover of the Indian Automobile Industry during 2018-19 was about 8.2 Lakh Crore rupees, which constitutes 7.1 per cent of the country’s total GDP.This industry is one of the largest employers and provides about 37 million direct and indirect jobs. Gujarati movie Hellaro will be awarded the best feature film.  Bollywood actors Ayushmann Khurrana and Vicky Kaushal have been selected for best actor award for their roles in Andhadhun and Uri. Keerthy Suresh will get the best actress award for her portrayal of yesteryear's star Savitri in Telugu film Mahanati. Marathi movie Paani has won the award for Best Film on Environment Conservation and Preservation. Kannada film Ondalla Eradalla will get Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration. In Cuba, President Miguel Díaz-Canel has appointed Manuel Marrero Cruz as the country's first prime minister in more than 40 years.  He was reinstated under the rules of a new constitution for the communist-run island passed earlier this year. Marrero,  has served as tourism minister for 16 years.  The post of prime minister was scrapped in 1976 by the then revolutionary leader Fidel Castro.

US President Donald Trump has said the United States and China will very shortly sign their so-called Phase One trade pact.  Trump said the two countries have just achieved a breakthrough on the trade deal and they will be signing it very shortly. The Phase One deal was announced earlier this month as part of a bid to end the months-long tit-for-tat trade war between the world’s two largest economies.

French President Emmanuel Macron has appealed to transport unions to suspend strikes that threaten travel chaos over the Christmas holidays. Mr Macron suggested that the strikers should observe a truce out of respect for families and family life.
