Films are one of India's greatest past times. We take you now in to the world of cinema with the Golden Jubilee of International Film Festival of India, IFFI. It starts on 20th November in Goa. This edition pays homage to the two unforgettable film makers :

"IFFI in Goa is paying homage to two great filmamkers who said goodbye to the world this past year. One is Bernardo Bertolucci and the other is Agnes Varda. Bernardo Bertolucci passed away on 26th November 2018 at the age of 77. He has helmed critically acclaimed gems  like 1900  which focussed on the struggle of farmers. His mindboggling feature, Last Emperor also won 9 oscars. The Italian director has a unique connection with India. He chose a boy,  polishing shoes in pahargunj in Delhi  to act in his masterpiece Little Buddha. Defending his style of movie making Beranardo once said :  "Maybe I'm an idealist, but I still think of the movie theater as a cathedral where we all go together to dream the dream together." “The Dreamers”  starring reknowned actress Eva Green, dealt with coming of age and exploring the sexuality of three teenagers. It will be showcased in the 50th IFFI as a mark of tribute and respect to the great Italian filmmaker.

The “grandmother of French New Wave”  Agnes Varda has been another legend. She started her career as a photographer before entering the world of cinema.  Some of her great works include  “Cléo From 5 to 7,” “Vagabond” and “faces places”. Her work focus on feminist issues and producing social commentary with a distinctive experimental style. She also shaped the career of other stalwarts like Godard and Renais. The film “Varda” by Agnes is her last triumph as the “Queen of French Cinema”. It is a documentary about Agnes herself .  Be a part of the legacy and IFFI 2019’s French connect by witnessing the films by these outstanding filmmakers. IFFI desk,  AIR News."
