Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid foundation stone of various infrastructure and development projects worth 33,000 crore rupees at Barauni in Begusarai district of Bihar today. He laid the foundation stone of Patna Metro Rail Project at a cost of over 13,000 crore rupees via video conferencing. The project would be completed by 2024.
Mr Modi also initiated construction and dedicated projects related to gas pipeline, expansion of Barauni Refinery, revival of Barauni fertiliser unit, ATF aviation fuel plant, extension of Paradip-Haldia-Durgapur LPG pipeline to Patna and Muzaffarpur, Urja Ganga Project City Gas Distribution at Patna and other projects worth over 15,000 crores.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Modi paid homage to the martyrs of Pulwana attack, Sanjay Kumar Sinha and Ratan Thakur from Bihar. The Prime Minister said, the fire that is raging the hearts of people over the incident is also raging in his heart.
"पटना के शहीद कांस्टेबल संजय कुमार सिन्हा और भांगलपुर के शहीद रत् कुमार ठाकुर को भी श्रद्धांजलि देता हूं। उनके परिवारजनों के साथ अपनी संवेदनाएं व्यक् करता हूं और मैं अनुभव कर रहा हूं। आपके और देशवासियों के दिल में कितनी है और जो आग आपके दिल में है, वही आग मेरे दिल में भी है।"
Mr Modi also said, Bihar and eastern India have the capacity not only to match but exceed the growth potential of  the rest of the country. He said, Bihar will become a new focus area to boost the development of the country.
"एनडीए सरकार बिहार समेत पूर्वी भारत के विकास के लिए, आधुनिक इन्फ्रास्ट्रेक्चर के लिए एक के बाद एक परियोजनाएं शुरू कर रही है। वो दिन दूर नहीं है, जब ये क्षेत्र देश के विकास को नई रफ्तार देने वाला अहम क्षेत्र बन जाएगा।"
The projects launched today, Mr Modi said, will bring a big change in the lives of the people. On the revival of Barauni fertiliser unit, the Prime Minister said:
"यहां बरौनी में जो फर्टिलाइजर का कारखाना फिर से चालू किया जा रहा है। उसको गैस उपलब् होगी। दूसरा पटना में पाइप के माध्यम से घरों में गैस देने का काम होगा। पेट्रोल, डीजल की जगह सीएनजी से गाडि़यां चल पाएगी। पटना में तो सिटी गैस डिस्ट्रीब्यूशन के प्लांट का उद्घाटन भी हो गया है। इससे वहां हजारों परिवारों को अब पाइप वाली गैस चूल्हे तक पहुंचने वाली है।"
Our correspondent reports that Mr Modi laid the foundation stone for the first phase of Jagdishpur Haldia and Bokaro Dhamra gas pipeline project under the Prime Minister's package for Bihar. He also kick started work of several development projects of civic works, Clean Ganga Mission and Railways.
The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of 22 projects under AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) mission worth over 1,400 crores. Under the mission, a drinking water pipeline would be laid. Mr Modi also dedicated the first phase of Patna River Front Development covering 16 ghats of Ganga and laid foundation stone of network for sewerage projects in Patna and Bhagalpur.
Later today, Mr Modi will unveil multiple projects pertaining to health, education, water supply and sanitation at Hazaribagh and Ranchi in Jharkhand. The Prime Minister will inaugurate three medical colleges buildings and lay foundation stone for four 500-bedded hospitals. He will also lay the foundation stone of the Centre for Tribal Studies, Acharya Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribagh. Mr Modi will distribute cheques to select beneficiaries to mark the launch of DBT scheme for farmers to purchase mobile phones under e-NAM.

The Jammu and Kashmir administration today issued orders to withdraw security of five separatist leaders in the aftermath of the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama. According to an order, security cover for Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Abdul Gani Bhat, Bilal Lone, Hashim Qureshi and Shabir Shah has been withdrawn. However, there is no mention of pro-Pakistan separatist Syed Ali Shah Geelani in the order.
According to the order, all security and vehicles provided to the separatists will stand withdrawn by this evening. No security forces or cover will be provided, under any pretext, to them or any other separatists. If they have any other facilities provided by the government, they are to be withdrawn forthwith.
During his visit to Srinagar on Friday, Home Minister Rajnath Singh had said security given to people getting funds from Pakistan and its snooping agency ISI should be reviewed. Mr Singh was in Srinagar to review the situation in the state, a day after the attack claimed the lives of over 40 CRPF personnel.
Meanwhile, curfew continues in Jammu for the third day today. The curfew was imposed after protests rocked the city over the Pulwama attack. Deputy Commissioner Ramesh Kumar said, authorities were monitoring the situation and a decision to relax the curfew would be taken later in the day.
The BJP is organising condolence meetings across the country today to pay tributes to the CRPF personnel killed in the attack. The meetings are being held at all district headquarters. Party's media head and Rajya Sabha member Anil Baluni said, during the meetings, party workers will resolve to take a pledge for a decisive battle against terrorism. The party said in a statement that it stands with the families of the martyred and noted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's assertion that their sacrifice will not go in vain.
India yesterday briefed Heads of Missions of Arab countries about Pakistan's role in sponsoring terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed that orchestrated the attack. Ambassadors of several Arab nations attended the briefing of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in New Delhi.
The meeting came a day after the MEA apprised around 25 Heads of Mission including representatives from Russia, France, European Union, Britain, Israel, Australia and Japan.

Country's first semi high speed train Vande Bharat Express left Delhi for Varanasi this morning on its first commercial run. In a tweet, Minister for Railways Piyush Goyal said, tickets of the train have already been sold out for the next two weeks. The train, which has been designed and built in India, is running between New Delhi and Varanasi via Kanpur and Prayagraj. It will cover the distance between New Delhi and Varanasi in eight hours. The train will run on all days except Monday and Thursday.

President Ram Nath Kovind launched Digital Kisan Platform during the 4th Agri Leadership Summit organised by the Haryana government at Gannaur in Sonipat today. Our correspondent reports that the President visited the Agri exhibition in the International Horticulture Market and conferred various awards.
"The President honoured the nine progressive farmers with Haryana Kristi Rattan Award. They were given award for doing commendable work in production of various crops. President also honoured the Haryana Agriculture University with Haryana Kids Rattan Pursakar, started by Haryana government first time. The vice chancellor of the university Dr K P Singh received the award from President. He was given given five lakh rupees in cash and commendation certificate for doing commendable job in Agricultural revolution. Ashwani Kumar Sharma, AIR NEWS, Chandigarh."

Argentinian President Mauricio Macri arrived in India early this morning on a three-day visit. He landed in Agra and visited the Taj Mahal before reaching New Delhi. Information and Broadcasting Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore received him at the airport in the national capital. The visiting dignitary will hold delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow. During the deliberations, the two sides will review the progress in bilateral ties and explore new avenues of co-operation. Several agreements are also expected to be signed.
Mr Macri will meet President Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan. He will also address a Plenary Session of India-Argentina Business Forum.

Chief Economic Adviser KV Subramanian has said, farm income support scheme PM-KISAN will provide multiple benefits to farmers, including improving their credit worthiness. The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KISAN) was announced in the Interim Budget 2019-20, under which 6,000 crore rupees will be given in three installments to 12 crore small and marginal farmers holding cultivable land up to 2 hectare. Speaking to a news agency, Mr Subramanian said, producer support in India is very low compared to the other countries and the scheme will help in supplementing that.

Delhi Police has arrested the owner of the Karol Bagh hotel where 17 people were killed in a massive fire on Tuesday. Rakesh Goel was arrested by the Crime Branch of the Police from the Indira Gandhi International Airport yesterday. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rajesh Deo said they had received a tip-off that Goel was travelling from Qatar.
On his arrival, Goel was detained and handed over to the Crime Branch and was arrested after brief questioning.

It will be the 53rd episode of the monthly radio programme. In a tweet, Mr Modi today urged people to share their ideas and suggestions on the Narendra Modi App and MyGov Open Forum.

In Boxing, Commonwealth Games medal-winning duo of Gaurav Solanki and Naman Tanwar have entered the quarterfinals of 70th Strandja Memorial Tournament at Sofia in Bulgaria. In 52 kgs, Solanki taking to the ring within 24 hours of his first-round win defeated Kazakhstan's Anvar Muzaparov 3-2 in a hard-fought contest last night. Tanwar in 91 kgs got the better of Poland's Michal Soczynski, 5-nil.
In the last-eight stage, Solanki will now face Uzbekistan's Fayzov Khudonyazar, while Tanwar will be up against Ukraine's Serhii Horskov.
