The all-party meeting has strongly condemned Thursday's dastardly terror attack in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir and expressed support to the government in its fight against terrorism. The meeting held in New Delhi condemned terrorism in all its forms and the support being given to it from across the border. In a resolution, the meeting said terrorism in India is being actively encouraged by the forces across the border and India has displayed both firmness and resilience in dealing with these challenges.


Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who chaired the meeting said the government has given a freehand to the Security Forces to deal with terrorists and their perpetrators. Mr Singh said, the government has followed a policy of zero tolerance against terrorism from the beginning and the cowardly attack on CRPF personnel reflects desperation among terrorists.


The Minister briefed the political parties about his visit to Srinagar yesterday and said, the morale of the Security Forces is high and they expressed resolve to continue the fight against terrorism till its logical conclusion.


The Home Minister said, the sacrifices made by the Security Forces will not go in vain and the country is united in its fight against terrorism. He said the Centre will provide all possible assistance to the families of martyrs. Mr. Singh stated that government is committed to rid Jammu and Kashmir of terror and violence.


Briefing media later, Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said, all parties expressed their support to the government in its fight against terrorism.


"प्रारंभ से ही हमारी नीति आतंकवाद के खिलाफ जीरो टोलरेंस की रही है। यह कायराना हमला आतंकवादियों की इसी हताशा को दर्शाता है। देश इस समय आतंकवाद के खिलाफ निर्णायक लड़ाई लड़ रहा है और उस लड़ाई को अंतिम परिणिति तक हम पहुंचाएंगे। हमारे जवानों का बलिदान व्यर्थ नहीं जाएगा।" 


Talking to media, senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said, the party stands with the government for unity and security of the nation and security forces.


"हम देश की एकता के लिए, अखंडता के लिए, देश की सुरक्षा के लिए, जनता की सुरक्षा के लिए हम सरकार के साथ खड़े रहेंगे, आतंकवाद को खत् करने के लिए, हमारा पूरा समर्थन रहेगा।"


Floor leaders of Congress, AIADMK, NCP, TDP, SP, TMC, AAP, BSP, BJD, Left. RJD and TRS were among those who attended the meeting.

The last rites of several CRPF personnel, who were martyred in Pulwama terror attack, were performed with full state honours at their native places across the country today. A large number of people from all walks of life bid a tearful adieu to their departed heroes.


In Uttar Pradesh, the martyrs were given last adieu with full state honour. Twelve of the martyrs hail from UP.

"The martyrs were given last adieu with wet eyes  in sorroful atmosphere at their native places  in state. Several ministers, public representatives and officials were  present to give last salute to the saviours of nation. Union minister of Textile Smrati Irani was present at Kanpur Dehat where martyr Shyam Baboo was creamated. Union minister general  VK Singh, Mahesh Sharma including others were also present at last farewell of martyrs at deferent places. State government has provided financial assistance of rupees 25 lakh each to the families of martyrs. MS Yadav AIR News, Lucknow. "


The two martyred jawans of Uttarakhand were cremated in Haridwar and Khatima.


In Bihar, the last rites of two martyred CRPF jawans were performed this evening on the banks of Ganga at Fatuha and Kahalgaon with full state honours.


In Tamil Nadu, the last rites of the two CRPF martyrs of the Pulwama attack were held with state honours this evening.


The bodies of two martyred jawans from West Bengal have been flown to Kolkata. Later, they were taken to their native places.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said each drop of tear shed after Pulwama terror attack will be avenged. Continuing his tough talk in the wake of Thursday's ghastly terror attack on CRPF, Mr Modi made it clear that New India will not spare those who provide guns and bombs to target its soldiers. Addressing a public meeting after inaugurating several development projects in Dhule in Maharashtra, Mr Modi said ours is a new India with new methods and policies, and the world will experience this now.


The Prime Minster said Indian troops have shown in the past how to hit the enemy and will spare no efforts in future as well. Mr Modi said this is a time of mourning and to show restrain and sensitivity adding that the government stands in solidarity with the bereaved families.


"ये संयम का समय है, संवेदनशीलता का समय है, ये शोक का समय है, लेकिन उनके परिवारों ने जो स्वजन खोया है, आपकी आंखों में जो आंसू हैं, उन आंसूओं का पूरा-पूरा जवाब लिया जाएगा।"


The Prime Minister also visited Yavatmal in Maharashtra today and launched several development projects there. Speaking at a rally in Pandharkawada, he said, the anger among people after the attack is well understood. Modi said the sacrifice of CRPF personnel will not go in vain and the terrorists will be punished no matter where they hide.


"पुलवामा में, जो कुछ भी हुआ, उसको लेकर आपके आक्रोश को मैं समझ रहा हूं। शहीदों का बलिदान व्यर्थ नहीं जाएगा, आतंक के सरपरस्तों ने जो गुनाह किया है वो चाहे जितना छिपने की कोशिश करें, उन्हें सज़ा जरूर दी जाएगी।"


Mr Modi said that security agencies have been given free hand to deal with the perpetrators and the jawans will take a decision on the time, place and the kind of punishment to be awarded to the perpetrators.


Launching a veiled attack against Pakistan, Prime Minister said terrorism is the second name of the neighbouring country.


"एक ऐसा देश जो भारत के बंटवारे के बाद अस्तित् में आया, जिसके यहां आतंकवाद को पनाह दी जाती है, जो आज दीवालिया होने की कगार पर खड़ा है, वो आतंक का दूसरा नाम बन चुका है।"


A two- minute silence was observed during the rally to pay homage to the departed CRPF jawans.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh today reviewed the security situation in the country, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir. PTI quoting a Home Ministry official reports that the meeting took stock of the security measures in place to foil any design of the Pak-based terrorist groups to disturb peace in Jammu and Kashmir as well as in the hinterland.


The Home Minister directed the officials to ensure that all possible steps are taken to hunt down terrorists currently operating in Kashmir valley.

The Centre has asked all states to take necessary steps to ensure safety and security of the students and people from Jammu and Kashmir living in their areas in the wake of threats to them in some parts of the country. The advisory came after Home Minister Rajnath Singh assured an all-party meeting of doing the needful for the protection of the Kashmiri students and people who were allegedly threatened after the terrorist attack in Pulwama.

In Jammu and Kashmir, an Army major was martyred today in an IED blast in Naushera sector along the Line of Control in Rajouri district. Defence sources told AIR that the army officer lost his life while defusing an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) which had been planted by terrorists possibly from across the LoC.

 

Later, the Pakistan Army started unprovoked firing targeting Indian positions in the same sector. The troops guarding the borderline also retaliated and gave a befitting reply to the enemy.

A Delhi court today extended the interim bail granted to Robert Vadra till 2nd March, in a money laundering case being probed by the Enforcement Directorate. The court directed Vadra to join the probe, whenever asked to, after the agency claimed that he was not cooperating in the matter.


Special judge Arvind Kumar granted relief to Vadra, the brother-in-law of Congress president Rahul Gandhi and to his close aide and co-accused in the case, Manoj Arora, till the next date of hearing on March 2nd.

Another Delhi court today dismissed bail pleas of Christian Michel, arrested in the 3,600-crore rupee AgustaWestland VVIP chopper deal case. Special judge Arvind Kumar rejected Michel's plea in the cases filed by the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate.


An alleged middleman in the chopper deal, Michel was extradited from Dubai and arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on December 22 last year. He is in judicial custody of ED and CBI till 26th February.

In Badminton, Saina Nehwal won her fourth title at the Yonex-Sunrise 83rd Senior Nationals, defeating P.V.Sindhu convincingly 21-18, 21-15 in Guwahati today. Sourabh Verma completed a hat-trick of titles, claiming the men's singles crown after defeating young Lakshya Sen in straight games of 21-18, 21-13.
