Various centrally sponsored road projects benefited people of J&K

In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, there had been enormous developmental activities that were carried out by the government during the last five-six years. Several new road links were either constructed or widened under various centrally sponsored schemes for the benefit of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
A significant number of flyovers on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway were also completed resulting in reduction of the road length between the two capital cities. Likewise, in Srinagar city centre, the Rambagh-Jahangeer Chowk fly over which was pending for the last about five years was completed and thrown open for the public last year. The demand by the residents of Srinagar was subsequently addressed to, which eventually brought cheers to the people especially the commuters travelling over it.
AIR Srinagar correspondent reports that following the opening of the long pending flyover project between Jahangir Chowk and Rambagh in Srinagar last year, the commuters finally got rid of the traffic congestion on the road underneath the flyover stretch. They had to face great inconvenience in reaching to their respective destinations. However, it is quite notable that with the concerted efforts of the Srinagar District Administration, the project was completed and thrown open for the public.
The Administration had been at the forefront of their efforts to speed up the construction of the flyover project. The increased efforts of the Administration could be guaged from the fact that some sixty slabs were laid within three months only, which was quite unprecedented, as far as the construction of any flyover project is concerned.
The 2.4-kilometre long flyover with six access ramps at Jahangir Chowk, Gogji Bagh, Aloochi Bagh, Rambagh, Natipora and Barzulla-has reduced the travel time between Jahangir Chowk and Rambagh from about 45 minutes to about 2.5 minutes only. It is equally worthwhile to mention here that the work on Jammu-Akhnoor four lanning project besides Chennani-Sudh Mahadev Road link in Jammu has also been taken-up expeditiously by the government and would be thrown open for the public in the very near future.
