NCW constitues panel to probe gang-rape of a former inmate of Muzaffarpur shelter home

The National Commission for Women has constituted an Enquiry Committee to look into the alleged gang-rape of a former inmate of the Muzaffarpur shelter home.

In a tweet, NCW Chairperson Rekha Sharma said that she will travel to Bihar to meet the victim, the Director-General of Police and possibly Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also. She said, the Commission will provide the victim all help that she needs.

Meanwhile, the National Human Rights Commission, NHRC has issued notices to Chief Secretary and DGP, Bihar and called for a detailed report in the matter within four weeks along with status of the FIR registered by the police.

The Commission has also directed the state authorities to provide the victim, proper counselling and medical assistance to help her overcome the trauma and lead a normal life.
