Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani asked the Public Sector Banks (PSBs) to support Atmanirbhar Street Vendors Scheme to help about two lakh registered street vendors in the state. He also appealed to the bankers to join the Atmanirbhar Bharat and Atmanirbhar Gujarat scheme proactively. Mr. Rupani was addressing a high-level review meeting of senior officers of the state’s UCBs (Urban Cooperative Banks), DCBs (District Central Banks) and Public Sector Banks through video conferencing from Gandhinagar yesterday.

He said that the Atmanirbhar Gujarat Assistance Package has been announced for small traders and self-employed to give them loans from one lakh to two and half lakh rupees at 2 percent annual interest. He said that there are 347 such UCBs and DCBs, which have extended  assistance  of  570 crore rupees to 56 thousand beneficiaries. The nationalized banks should also plan some definite module and join the scheme. This benefit should be aggressively extended to more beneficiaries. He said that not just small traders, 35 lakh MSME units in the state should also get easy loans. Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel was also present on the occasion.
