Flood like situation prevails in low lying areas of UP

In Uttar Pradesh, heavy rain in many parts of state along with water released into rivers from various dams and barrages has made flood like situation in low lying areas. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered administrative officials to provide compensation to flood victims within 12 hours.  AIR correspondent reports that many parts of state are witnessing heavy rain from last evening. Situation continues to remain serious in low lying areas close to Ganga, Yamuna, Chambal and Ghaghra rivers in many districts.

Teams of NDRF and SDRF have been pushed for relief and rescue work. Hundreds of people have taken shelter in relief camps and many villages are marooned in Fatehpur, Agra, Kaushambi, Aurraiya, Balliya and Varanasi districts. Boats are being used by administration for rescue of villagers. Schools are closed in Chitrakoot due to heavy rain and flood situation. In Prayag raj also, all schools in range of five kilometres from Ganga and Yamuna rivers are closed till 21st of September. Both rivers are flowing above danger mark forcing hundreds of people to flee overnight. Met Department has predicted heavy rain in central and eastern part of state in next 24 hours.
