Amit Shah launches special winter-grade diesel for use in high-altitude regions of Ladakh

PTI
Home Minister Amit Shah today launched a special winter-grade diesel, developed by Indian Oil Corporation, for use in the high-altitude regions of Ladakh. Motorists in high-altitude sectors like Ladakh, Kargil, Kaza and Keylong face the problem of freezing of diesel in vehicles when winter temperatures drop to as low as minus 30 degree Celsius.

Addressing the people of Ladakh through video conferencing from Delhi, Amit Shah congratulated them, saying their long-pending demand was fulfilled by getting the Union Territory status for Ladakh. He said the new status will accelerate the pace of holistic development of the region and bring prosperity to the people at par with the rest of the country.

The Home Minister said the government has initiated a number of development projects for Ladakh, in the areas of power, solar energy, education and tourism, with an estimated investment of 50 thousand crore rupees. Mr Shah assured the people of the region that they will witness a fast pace of growth and development under the decisive leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Speaking at the function, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said people of Ladakh will get an uninterrupted supply of special winter-grade diesel, which will help reduce hardships faced by the local people for transportation and mobility during the harsh winter months. He said this will further facilitate the local economy as well as tourism in the region.
