Manipur Chief Minister inaugurates five Water Supply projects

Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh yesterday inaugurated five Water Supply projects, one office building of Weight and Measures Department and Rapid Antigen Detection Testing Centre at Jiribam through video conferencing from the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Imphal. The five Water Supply projects located at different districts of Manipur were constructed with the total cost of 48.39 crore rupees having total capacity of more than 26.15 millions of liters per day.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister informed that with a strong commitment and the co-operation of the people, the government could complete various developmental projects in the State. The New Development Bank has sanctioned 3,000 crore rupees to provide potable water to every household of the state and work orders for the projects have been issued. The State Government has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to grace the foundation stone laying ceremony which will be held shortly, he added.
Regarding the Antigen Detection Centre in Jiribam, the Chief Minister said that it will help in early detection of Coronavirus infection and quick diagnosis. He said that the testing facilities will also be made available to other districts of the state very soon. Mr Singh also said that the government is planning to open a COVID Care Centre in Jiribam district where the number of COVID-19 positive cases has increased suddenly from the last few days.
