Jitendra Singh inaugurates ISRO's UNNATI programme

Minister of State in Department of Space Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurated UNNATI programme of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in Bengaluru today. UNNATI is an acronym for Unispace Nanosatellite Assembly and Training programme launched by ISRO as part of initiative by United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs that is commemorating the 50th anniversary of the first United Nations Conference on the Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Outer Space. 

The first batch of this programme was launched today with 30 participants from 17 countries from Algeria, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Bhutan, Brazil, Chile, Egypt, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, Morocco, Myanmar, Oman, Panama and Portugal. They will be imparted two months training. These participants were selected from 87 applications from 34 countries. 

Speaking on the occasion, Dr.Jitendra Singh lauded the achievements of ISRO and said space technology has made valuable contributions in our day to day life. India, he said has become a frontline nation in the application of space technology for social good. ISRO Chairman Dr K Sivan and other senior officials were present on this occasion.
