President, Vice President, PM pay tribute to Vajpayee on his birth anniversary

President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have paid tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birth anniversary. 

Remembering the former Prime Minister, Mr Kovind said, Atal Bihari Vajpayee was a true Indian statesman. He said, Vajpayee ji will always live on in the hearts and minds of the people of the country. 

In a tweet, Mr Naidu said, the Nation is ever grateful for the invaluable contributions made by him. 

The Vice President said, Vajpayee Ji was an astute parliamentarian, an administrator par excellence, a visionary statesman, an erudite scholar, a gifted orator, a most beloved leader and above all a great human being who believed in the core Indian values of harmony and synthesis. 

Mr Naidu said, Vajpayee ji brought connectivity revolution and paved way for development and growth and he epitomized politics of grace. 

The Vice President said, upholding the values in the public life is the real tributes to the great son of the Soil, Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birth anniversary. Mr Modi reiterated the commitment towards creating the India Mr Vajpayee dreamt of.

Paying his tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Information and Broadcasting Minister Col Rajyavardhan Rathore said, an inspiration for everyone Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee dreamt of making India the best with the spirit of the nation is paramount and with the participation of people. In a tweet, he said, the people of India are paying homage to him with the determination to make India of his dreams.

Later, the Samadhi of Bharat Ratna and Former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee - Sadaiv Atal was dedicated to the Nation. 

President, Vice President and Prime Minister paid floral tributes at the Samadhi on Tuesday morning. 

Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, BJP veteran Lal Krishna Advani, BJP president Amit Shah, several Union Ministers, family members of the late Prime Minister also paid their homage. 

Emphasizing Unity in Diversity, stones from various parts of the country have been used in the construction of Samadhi near Rajghat in New Delhi. 

The central Samadhi platform comprises nine square blocks, capped with a Diya in the centre. The number nine holds significance and represents the navarasas, navaratras and navagrahas. The placement of the nine square Samadhi is in a circular lotus shaped pattern. 

The Samadhi has been completed by CPWD at a cost of over ten crore rupees and the entire cost of construction has been borne by the Atal Smriti Nyas Society.
