Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated projects worth around Rs 15,000 crore in Odisha on Monday.

These projects are related to health, road and highways, higher education and culture. These projects are part of Mr Modi's vision of Purbodaya - a prosperous East for building a new India.

Among the projects, the Prime Minister dedicated the new campus of IIT-Bhubaneswar at Aragul built at a cost of Rs 1660 crore.

Mr Modi also inaugurated ESIC hospital in Bhubaneshwar costing 73.5 crore rupees. He also inaugurated the Lalitgiri Archaeological Museum which houses huge sculptures of the Buddha and various Buddhist deities.

Mr Modi also released a commemorative coin and a postage stamp in memory of Paika Rebellion at a function in IIT Bhubaneswar during his day-long visit to the state.

This year marks 200th anniversary the 1817 Rebellion led by Buxi Jagabandhu of Khorda district against the Britishers.

Addressing a public meeting at Barunei near Khurda today, the Prime Minister hit out at the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD government in Odisha, saying the demon of corruption in various sectors has become strong in the state.

He said, corruption in the form of chit fund scams and PC (percentage commission) culture has grown strong in Odisha.

Mr Modi also criticized Odisha government for not adopting the Centre's mega health scheme Ayushman Bharat. He said, Centre has launched a slew of the project and pumped in huge funds for Odisha's development, but despite all these, the state is lagging behind.

Mr Modi said, the projects which were inaugurated today would accelerate the state's development and make the state an engine for transformation of the country into a 'New India'.

Asserting that the Centre is committed to strengthening healthcare services in Odisha, the Prime Minister said, Centre has taken steps for setting up five medical colleges in the state.

Affirming the Centre's commitment to all-round development of Odisha, Mr Modi said, the investment in oil and petroleum sector in the state would make it the country's petro-hub.

He said, while a plastic park and polypropylene project are coming up in Paradip near the Indian Oil refinery, a biofuel plant is being set up in Bargarh and a strategic oil reserve is being established in Chandikhole.

The prime minister also laid foundation stones for two projects -- Indian Oil's pipeline from Paradip to Hyderabad at a projected cost of 3,800 crore rupees and GAIL's gas pipeline from Angul to Bokaro in Jharkhand at a projected cost of 3,437 crore rupees under the Urja Ganga Yojana. Mr Modi said, people in 19 districts of the state would be able to get cheap piped cooking gas with the spread of these pipeline projects.

Asserting that the Centre is taking all steps to strengthen connectivity and road networks in Odisha, Mr Modi said, 4,361 crore rupees are being spent for 4 National Highway projects of 263 km.

He said, Central funds for infrastructure projects in the state have been increased five times during the BJP-led NDA government.

Noting that 35 lakh free LPG connections have been provided to the poor people in the state, Mr Modi said, 70 per cent of the state population use cooking gas now, as against only 20 per cent earlier, and the aim is to reach all.

The Prime Minister said, the Government has given more than 1700 crore rupees subsidy to farmers under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.

He said, the Central Government is committed to work for the development of people with the Mantra of Sankalp Se Siddhi and  Sab Kaa Saath, Sab Kaa Vikas.

Many BJP leaders including Union Ministers Juel Oram and Dharmendra Pradhan were present on this occasion.
