Political parties must participate in debate during winter session: PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said political parties must participate in the debate during the winter session of Parliament that commenced on Tuesday.

Speaking to the media outside Parliament, Mr Modi said, the government is willing to discuss every issue on the floor of both the Houses.

Both Houses of Parliament were adjourned for the day after making obituary references to their members who passed away during the intersession. 

The members included former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former Lok Sabha Speaker Somanth Chatterjee .

Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on Tuesday held an all-party meeting in New Delhi to build a consensus for the smooth functioning of the lower house in this session.
