Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri today called for upgradation of emergency response infrastructure to meet any exigencies in the flooding of urban areas in the country.

Interacting with media after conclusion of a workshop on urban flood resilience in New Delhi, the Minister emphasized the need for having systems in place to combat several inter-related challenges of both man-made and natural disaster.

He said, this required multi-level coordination, early warning system and mapping of early responders. He suggested that past experiences of disasters be collated and utilized for devising means to mitigate the after-effects of disaster.
