Mumbai court remands alleged member of Sanatan Sansthan after a cache of explosives recovered from his house

NSD Logo A Mumbai court has remanded an alleged member of right wing group Sanatan Sansthan, Vaibhav Raut and two others, Shiv Pratishthan’s Sudhanva Gondrekar and Sharad Karaskar to police custody till 18th of August. Raut was arrested from Mumbai’s suburb of Nallasopara late on Thursday. 

A cache of explosives, including at least 19 country-made bombs large quantity gun powder and detonators were also recovered from his house.

Coming just a week before Independence Day, the Maharashtra Anti- Terrorism Squad claimed that the raid on Raut’s house was conducted after receiving information about a possible terror attack being planned on Mumbai, Pune, Solapur and Satara.

Sanatan Sansthan has been constantly in news for the last few years for their alleged connection in the killings of rationalists Narendra Dabholkar, Govind Pansare and Gauri Lankesh while Shiv Pratishthan has been accused of inciting anti-Dalit violence in Maharashtra.

Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, Maharashtra’s Minister of State for Home, Mr. Deepak Kesarkar said today’s arrests are a big breakthrough for the ATS. He said an full-fledged investigation will reveal who the trio was working for and what damage did they intent to cause.
