The National Human Rights Commission,NHRC, today issued notices to the Delhi government and police seeking a detailed report on the alleged rape of a class two student of a NDMC school in Gole Market area in the national capital by an electrician on the school premises.

Taking serious note of the reported incident which took place on Wednesday, NHRC observed that it indicates negligence by school authorities and amounts to violation of human rights of the victim.

It said, being the custodian of the students, the school authorities are responsible for the safety and security of its students, especially the girl students.

The NHRC also said there should be a State Human Rights Commission in Delhi to deal with such cases of alleged violation of human rights.

Meanwhile, the New Delhi Municipal Council today suspended four officials, including the headmistress of the school where the incident took place.
